Why this exists
The takeoff is where good yards lose time they do not have.
A builder sends a set of drawings and asks what the lumber package will cost. Between that request and the answer sits a takeoff: an experienced estimator, a scale rule or a screen, and hours of careful counting. While that happens, the builder waits, and sometimes the builder stops waiting.
The counting is skilled work, but it is not where an estimator's judgment is worth the most. That is in knowing the builder, reading between the lines of incomplete drawings, suggesting the substitution that saves the project money, and pricing to win without giving the margin away.
LumberSet does the counting. It reads the plan set, builds a model of the building, and computes the takeoff from your yard's own estimating standards, with every number showing its work. Your estimator checks it, prices it and sends it.

Let AI read. Let arithmetic count.
Reading drawings is fuzzy work, and AI is good at it. Counting studs is exact work, and should be done by rules that give the same answer every time. We keep the two apart on purpose, and quantities are never generated by AI.

An estimator will not send a number they cannot check, and they are right. Every line in a LumberSet takeoff shows its arithmetic and points to the sheet it came from.

The yard's knowledge belongs to the yard.
How you frame a corner, what waste you carry, which lengths you stock, what you charge: that is your business, in both senses. It drives your takeoffs and it stays private to your yard.

People check the machines.
Estimators on our staff review takeoffs and record what they correct. Their corrections are how the reading gets better, and how you know someone who has done this work has looked at yours.

LumberSet is at launch. You will not find a wall of customer logos or a page of testimonials on this site, because we have not earned them yet and we will not invent them.
