Importing your catalog and matching lines
Load what you sell from a spreadsheet, and how quote lines find your items and prices.
Your catalog is the list of what your yard sells, with units and prices. Quote lines are matched to catalog items, and that is what gives a quote your prices.
Importing from a spreadsheet
- Open Catalog and choose Import CSV.
- Choose a CSV file with these columns: sku, description, category, unit, cost, price. Only sku and description are required.
The file is loaded straight away. Existing SKUs are updated and new ones added. An import never removes anything.
Write descriptions the way a yard does
LumberSet reads each description to work out what the item is, so it can match it to takeoff lines. Use yard shorthand:

- 2x4x92-5/8 DF Stud
- 7/16" OSB 4x8
- LVL 1-3/4" x 11-7/8"
- Simpson LUS26 joist hanger
An item LumberSet cannot read shows a "Manual only" badge. It stays in your catalog, but it will not be matched on its own. Rewrite the description and it will be.
Matching on a quote
When you create a quote, each line shows the SKU it matched, or No match. A No match line is priced at $0 until you type a price, and a quote cannot be sent with $0 lines.
Units and pricing
Units can be each, lineal foot, board foot, thousand board feet, sheet or box. If an item has a cost but no sell price, your Markup on cost from Settings is applied.
