Correcting a wall height and recomputing
Change what was read from the drawings and watch the takeoff recompute. It costs nothing.
If the builder told you something the drawings do not show, or reading got an element wrong, correct it. The whole takeoff recomputes at once, and there is no charge.
An example: a wall height
Wall heights are the thing drawings most often leave out. When a height is missing, LumberSet assumes 8 feet and raises a flag.
- Open the takeoff and find the flag, or open the stud line and look at the walls behind it.
- Open the wall and change the height, for example to 9 feet.
- Choose the reason for the change.
- Save. The takeoff recomputes in your browser: studs, plates and sheathing all update.
What you can correct
- Walls: length, height and stud size.
- Openings: width, height and how many there are.
- Floor areas: joist length and joist run.
- Roof planes: plan area and pitch.
Beams, posts and the kind of wall cannot be corrected yet, and elements cannot be removed. If one of those is wrong, open a ticket and a LumberSet estimator can look at it.
What happens to a quote
A quote keeps the lines it was created with. To use the corrected numbers, choose Create quote again on the takeoff.
Corrections are remembered
Every correction is kept with its reason. Reviewers see them too, and they help make reading better over time.
